ShowTime Staff
Beverly Skipper
CEO
Beverly Skipper is well known for her love of all things organized and efficient. Her belief in Life Skills is shown in her commitment to teaching Life Skills to all who attend ShowTime Camps. She had an “aha” moment many years ago, realizing that producing a flawless performance was valuable for now, but what really mattered was training her dancers to think and to give them the Life Skills to be confident, competent, and successful on their own.
Beverly loved dancing as a Kilgore Rangerette and a Texas State Strutter. She wanted to give back to those organizations and she created the National Collegiate Dance Drill Team Auditions to put dancers in contact with colleges. Thousands of dancers were connected with millions of dollars in scholarships in the 35 years that Beverly and ShowTime have hosted the auditions. In the 1970’s, there were only two drill team competitions in Texas, both privately run. Beverly Skipper and ShowTime International created the first three company hosted competitions: the San Antonio Spectacular, the Houston Extravaganza, and the Texas Championship for Texas teams, and those original three are still running today. She was the forerunner in creating area contests throughout Texas which served as the model for other companies who now run contests. “Kisstomer Service” has been her mantra for her clients. Make a Plan. Tell the Clients the Plan. Execute the Plan as Promised. Beverly Skipper also created the highly popular Booster Club Camp to educate Boosters on their responsibilities and leadership roles. Do you have air bags in your vehicle? Of course you do! Beverly was one of a select team of college students who tested the viability of airbags for Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio in 1972. Public opinion was against the airbags, with consumers believing the bags would inhibit their ability to steer clear of an accident. Her participation in the tests was instrumental in the USA adopting airbags as a safety consideration. Beverly’s favorite hobby is playing Texas Hold ‘Em. Her early beginnings were at local establishments, and her highest victory was scoring 86th out of a field of 6,352 players at the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas. She continues to play and exhibits her love of learning by studying under two professional Poker Coaches and Life Coaches. Any additional comments that you would like to share: Being in drill team myself and then and working with ShowTime all these years means everything to me. My role as a choreographer and instructor has changed and evolved into being the planner, which I enjoy very much. I love our staff – they are positive, cheerful, energetic, funny, and extremely capable. There is nothing I would rather be doing, and the things I’ve learned from being in drill team and from owning ShowTime translate into many other areas such as planning a wedding and building a new home. It is the ultimate gratification when a student or staff lets me know that I have positively influenced them or helped them learn something that makes them more capable or successful in life.
